MINE METHANE CAPTURE (MMC)

MMC is the process by which large amounts of carbon dioxide that has built up in active, temporarily idle or abandoned coal mines is captured, compressed, transported, and stored.

In many cases the methane can be harmlessly burned off into the atmosphere. In other cases, the methane can be utilized in the production of electricity. This carbon capture and sequestration strategy can also be applied to landfills and water treatment plants, which also produce large amounts of methane.

Global Warming threatens our health, our economy, our natural resources and our children’s future.

It is clear we must act.
