AVOIDED CONVERSION (AC)

AC projects perpetually allow the continued growth of our forests and the continued sequestration of greenhouse gas emissions within the forests

An AC Project, sometimes called a Forest Conservation Project, involves preventing the loss of forests to a non-forest use, by permanently dedicating the land to continuous forest cover and maintaining or increasing stocking levels. Simply put, forests that have a high risk or have already been approved for conversion to residential, agricultural, or other uses such as commercial buildings or golf courses are permanently conserved through the creation of a conservation easement or transfer to public ownership.

Secondary benefits to AC projects included:

\

Restoration, protection and enhancement of wetlands

\

Wildlife conversation and protection in their native habitats

\

Improvement of the vitality of agricultural lands

\

Improvement of the aesthetics and economies of local communities

Global Warming threatens our health, our economy, our natural resources and our children’s future.

It is clear we must act.
